Reply To: In your opinion, why is it important for Christians to stand up for religious freedom for people of all faiths, and not just our own?

I think one of the important elements of Christianity is free will/ free choice. The Lord gives us the ability to decide matters of conscience and to act accordingly, knowing that one day we will be judged for those choices. Who are we as human beings to attempt to take away from other people what our Lord has so graciously given to us? In addition, even fellow Christians often disagree on many theological points and lifestyle choices. By asserting only protection for one tradition/way of life, many people would be at risk of being disenfranchised and possibly even killed around the world. Jesus’s message was one of love and peace to all people. The path of salvation was offered to all, but judgement has always been something reserved for our Lord and not for us to enact on Earth. As a result, we must stand up for the free will and consciences of others around us, even if their views starkly differ from ours.
