A Hebraic leader is a person of great integrity and faith. Instead of offering a general description, I think it might be more helpful to offer an example of someone who I think embodies this type of leadership. When I was in college, I volunteered at a therapeutic riding school with a woman who dedicated her life to teaching kids with disabilities to ride horses. One summer, I ended up leaving with her and her family while volunteering at the farm. Every morning at the break of dawn, my boss would wake up and pray before doing barn chores. Then while we were driving to work, she would tell me her hopes for the day and share Biblical reflections that were informing her life. Then I’d get to spend the day watching her strive to live out the virtues and goals I knew she’d prayed about in the morning. In the evening, as we drove home, she’d reflect honestly and with humility on how well she felt she’d lived out her values, and she’d ask me for feedback and prayer as she worked harder to do even better the next day. After all these years, I still think back to my boss’s example of how to inspire others in living with integrity and striving earnestly to make the world better than she found it.
