Absolutely. I can’t imagine how human governments can sort out such a tangled web of tensions and alliances without God’s help. It seems that the region perhaps enjoyed a more peaceful existence before World War I and its aftermath broke up the Ottoman Empire, but I suppose you could say the same for Europe, which mostly enjoyed a century of peace from the defeat of Napoleon in 1815 until the guns of August started booming in 1914. Does this mean that old fashioned multinational empires were superior to modern nation states in managing peaceful relationships among ethnic groups? I sometimes wonder.
