My wife and I visited the NOVA exhibit when it was in Washington DC. My wife had formed several relationships with Israeli women through social media during the pandemic. She had received personal accounts of the October 7th events and felt drawn to visit this exhibit. I cannot express the emotional heaviness of walking through this exhibit and watching first-person recordings of people’s cell phones as the horrific event unfolded. My wife attempted to share this experience with our 25 year old daughter and was met with hostility. She was accused of being against the Palestinian people and in support of genocidal actions of Israel. Somehow condemning the actions of Hamas equates us to being anti-Palestinian.
