A member of our family attended a much more left-leaning school in Virginia, UVA, and became sympathetic to the Palestinian cause without unfortunately knowing much about the situation. At least once, she reposted on social media content from a group called “Gays for Gaza.” When my wife and I tried to explain that the Islamist government of Gaza would probably not be very sympathetic to gay people, she was uninterested, and gave us some explanation that I can’t remember, but surely must have been off base.
