I don’t think that I was ever explicitly told that supporting Israel means opposing Palestinians, but the implication is strongly there. For example, when my wife and I would express interest in traveling to Israel or learning more about the country, especially after watching the TV series “The Chosen,” members of our family who lean left were dismissive and incredulous. They seemed to assume that any person of goodwill must recognize that Palestinians are horribly oppressed by Israel and that the latter could enjoy no positive judgments as a result.
