Ashley, It has been shocking for me to learn just how hard Appalachian communities were hit by the hurricane, both in North Carolina and in my own state of Virginia. My company offers some workforce development opportunities in the area and we are seeking to expand our programs, to help young people at community colleges, many of whose families have a background in the coal industry, to qualify as solar power installers, training that they can also use for further study to work as electricians, both highly in-demand fields.
