It is important to know the history of the Crusades accurately as there are many misconceptions about the Crusades’ achievements and motives. The inconsistent morality of the Crusaders’ actions is also important to acknowledge during these types of discussions. Both sides of the conflict believed their cause was just and believed they were doing right by their God. As time progressed, the conflict became less about defending one’s God and more self-centered as looting became more prominent during missions.
