As a Catholic, at every Mass I recite the ancient Nice creed that originated in the Near East that has united our faith for 1700 years. And whenever incense is used in our church, it reminds me of its ancient Hebraic origins in the Temple services. I am attracted to art traditions of the Eastern churches, especially icons, and have one that my father had painted for me when I was born; now that I have children of my own, I plan on getting more icons for our house to continue the tradition and connect with this beautiful physical reminder of the faith. I have attended a Greek Orthodox service but would be very interested to attend other Eastern rite services of the Catholic Church as well and hope to do so soon.
