The complexities and tribulations of the modern Near East all the more reminds me how much we need God to save us in this world. These lectures also revealed to me how the conflicts that do exist in the Near East are much deeper than we can imagine as people living in the West. Many times we only make assumptions from the news or from what we are fed on the internet and think that we are experts in the modern Near East. However, when you actually sit to listen to more in depth lectures such as the one given by Professor Darren Duke, it makes you think twice about your knowledge of the subject, and for me personally, it has given me a yearning to dig deeper and educate myself even further on the matter. This course has given me a stronger outline as to the motives of each actor within the region.
