Fairly recently, I attended a concert held at a Messianic congregation. The artist who was performing was the wonderfully talented American-Israeli singer, Joshua Aaron. Coming from a Roman-Catholic faith, this type of worship was a distinctly different experience. It was with a warm welcome that I sat down and chatted with some of the lovely members there before the show began. Many of them innocently inquired about my background, not as a sign of contempt, but rather to have more insight and awareness when explaining their practices to me. Joshua took the stage and earnestly began playing his worship music (which in and of itself is incredibly unifying). Highly affecting scenes of jubilation swept across the audience. I found myself not only enamored with the main talent, but with the audience so liberally rejoicing. My heart and mind being open to, rather than condemning dissimilarities, was essential to my appreciation and pure enjoyment of the show and overall experience. This proved to be a fruitful addition to my usual way of worship. Looking forward to my next opportunity to “Dance like David Danced” with my brethren again very soon!
