To be entirely honest, for most of my life, I mostly ignored foreign policy as I did not feel it was very applicable to my life. Even when I started traveling internationally, I focused more on minor governmental differences, such as speed limits. I do remember conversations with Spaniards early in my travels about the topics of abortion and maternity leave, but I don’t know if I would consider those foreign policy as much as simply comparing different national policies since those are typically laws set locally and not something that other governments really have influence on.
However, even subconciously, my faith has definitely shaped my worldview, including foreign policy. Going to Israel was a major factor in that. I found that focusing on just my own faith can be limiting. Understanding other beliefs can help me not only better understand foreign policy, but better understand my own faith as well.
