I was also surprised by the difference in Jewish and Christian theology in regard to the concept of original sin. I had assumed they believed the same – that Messiah would come to save the world from sin as is emphasized in Christianity. But it seems there is more focus on the Messiah bringing world peace and stability, and not so much on sin.
But from a Christian perspective, the New Testament scriptures reveal more revelation about the issue of sin and what Jesus came to save us from. So it’s really helpful having these things in mind when understanding the Jewish perspective on sin and what they believe about Messiah.
