Hebraic leadership is a term describing embracing a biblical worldview in regards to leadership, coming from an interpretation of the Bible which acknowledges the Hebrew roots (and destination) of our faith. It sees the world through the eyes of biblical values and justice, while at the same time remembering that this world (in its present form) is not the end goal. We must seek first the Kingdom of God, which is a very real thing, but we still have to live in this world and deal with the day-to-day logistics of it. We can’t very well live out our faith in a nation whose laws are hostile to Christianity, so we must hold tightly to the religious freedom we have been blessed with in America.

There is a great balance involved in the Bible, in particularly the New Testament, and its take on politics. The Bible says to pray that we would be allowed to live quietly and peacefully in our homes–it doesn’t call us to be revolutionaries. Jesus also said his kingdom is not of this world. Yet at the same time, as the professor mentions, there may be Christians who feel called to politics (whether teaching about politics or working in the government) who are able to more practically advance godly values in the world in its present form.

To me, the solution is always Jesus. Convincing the world that this or that political stance is right is very difficult without a common set of moral values, so as the professor stated, perhaps the solution is in seeking first the kingdom of God. I acknowledge it is much more pleasant to live in a nation going in the direction of righteousness rather than wickedness from a political perspective… but perhaps if we preach, teach, and build people up in their faith in Christ, working towards revival and that millennial kingdom in Jerusalem, the rest will come.
