Ananya, I love what you’re saying about cultivating humility and compassion by reflecting on the past. I am really reminded of Matthew 23 (“those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted”) and our calling as Christians to act with humility towards God and others (perhaps at least in part transitively because others are made in the Image of God!). What you mention about awareness is also a great point; it is difficult to imagine resolving an issue without having at least minimal understanding of it and its historical causes.
