Reply To: In your opinion, why is it important for Christians to stand up for religious freedom for people of all faiths, and not just our own?

Agreed. In a similar vain. It was feared in the early 2000s that after 9/11 that Indonesia would become a hot bed for terrorism, and there is indeed evidence to suggest that there may have been a radical Islamist threat in the region. However, after the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami the United States began Operation Unified Assistance and provided tons of rescue and relief missions to save and rebuild Indonesia and other parts of the region. Afterwards Indonesian public opinion of the United States markedly improved, and some experts speculate ended a potential spread of radical ideas in the nation and overall region.

Similarly if Christians were to focus on helping the Rohingya in Myanmar, the Uyghurs in Xijang China or possibly the Dagestanis, Tartars, Circassians, and Chechenians in Russia and the surrounding areas. Perhaps we could build some good will towards them. But even if not it is the right thing to do.
