I was thinking of committing scriptures to memory, and treating it almost like a book club. On a monthly or every few weeks basis, come together in a group, as you suggested, and go over what each person has memorized. That way there is accountability, and motivation to study the text in a group. I am also a big advocate for biblical movies. I love the 1956 Ten Commandments movie, as well as Ben Hur. Even The Chosen would be good for illustrating biblical stories, and hopefully promote biblical literacy.
