I really like your ideas here! Having a sober mind is hard to find nowadays in the world of foreign policy and politics in general. This line of discussion reminds me of a talk I heard from John Richmond, who works for IJM (International Justice Mission). I recall a major point he made about working in other countries who not only allow but promote human trafficking/slavery/prostitution: There are countries and societies and cultures that do not have a general understanding that all humans deserve dignity. It made me think of how Western my worldview is, sometimes. And I agree about the potential for evil – as much as people can be and do good in the world, evil can and does also abound.
