Reply To: In your opinion, why is it important for Christians to stand up for religious freedom for people of all faiths, and not just our own?

Standing up for the freedom of all religions means that one’s own religion will, by default, increase its likelihood of freedom. It also helps to grow one’s faith. If we were to live in a state where Christianity was mandatory, yes, there would be a lot more people claiming to be Christians. However, not everyone who said they were a Christian would actually be Christian; many would claim this purely for political or safety reasons. We would see a lot of watered-down Christianity and not much encouragement from one Christian to another to strengthen their faith. This example could be used with any religion. Living in a free country that allows multiple religions to be practiced within the vicinity of each other helps adherents to understand one’s own faith especially by contrasting it and showing how it is unique. It allows adherents to still questions aspects of their faith that may be debatable, and will ultimately make their faith stronger as they know what they stand behind.
