Yes this is interesting the French were involved! I remember in one of the lessons about Lebanon that they were one of the only countries in the Near East that were “established” or settled by a European nation (I could be wrong about that but I have a memory of reading something like that). I have personally been to Lebanon once, and did notice the French influence in mostly the architecture of Beirut. It does make sense, too, that some countries need the products, if you can call jets products, of other nations in order to do big things like fight battles. It makes me wonder what else is basically exported from one country to another.
