Yes! I like your thinking. Acting in bad faith is so common nowadays, especially when its a quick, often distorted soundbite on social media. I do like your response to turn it back to the person who is asking – What do they think should be done? How do they see reconciliation happening? It can lead to more discussion, rather than separate two people who support two different groups of people. As for an example of another nation who has committed atrocious that no one seems to care about anymore (it is possible people do still care – but it certainly does not make headlines) is Russia’s invasion of Chechnya. There is a great book (fiction, but so realistic, people often mistook it for being a true story) called A Constellation of Vital Phenomena by Anthony Marra that opened my eyes to that conflict. Russia is so big and powerful, and people might be outraged about the invasion of Ukraine, but there is still so many other tragedies Russia has committed in history that we could focus our attention on – but the Near East often gets the most vitriolic attention.
