I am Brazilian and grew up in the Protestant church. Specifically in the Baptist-Charismatic tradition. Ever since I met Jesus, I have always felt curious and interested in understanding the other parts of the body of Christ. Since then, I have studied and strived to promote church unity wherever I go. However, I have noticed some points that can help in this practice:
First: keep in mind that we are not getting involved with the tradition itself, but with people (since any tradition is made up of people). Therefore, care about relating to real people, with real flaws.
Second: Always remain humble and understand that your tradition is not the holder of the absolute truth, but that the truths of Christ are exposed through his plural and dynamic body.
Third: Do not be offended by practices that seem “strange”. Although you may have your theological convictions, it is necessary that we be open to the new and different. It is always good to observe whether a doctrine that you consider “heresy” violates some essential doctrine. If this practice does not violate any essential doctrine, then it is fine!
