According to the lecture, the three ascendancies in Lebanese history are: Christian Ascendancy (1920-1975), Sunni Ascendancy (1990-2005), and Shiite Ascendancy (2005-present). In relation to the current situation, the political instability associated with political corruption, financial, monetary, and banking insecurity, and educational, food, and health degradation correlate with the successive compromises and agreements emanating from each, respective ascendancy. For instance, under the Cairo Agreement marked the decline of the Christian Ascendancy and paved the way for the Sunni Ascendancy, thus correlating with the decline of the economic, political, and social stability experienced in the former ascendancy. Furthermore, the destabilization of Lebanese sovereignty as a result of Israeli-Palestinian wars in Lebanese soil is also attributable to the effectuation of the Cairo Agreement.
