Reply To: Did any of the similarities or differences between Christian and Jewish theology surprise you? If so, which/why?

I’d say there is the difference of the messiah being an age for the modernist Jews that surprised me. Essentially because it takes out the notion of humanness to the messiah as one savior and instead it refers to a time in space, thus I find it interesting to actually think that way. I’m also surprised that there is a distinction between what Jews believe and Christians regarding men being born in sin, because in my personal experience I’ve been becoming aware as to how much sin has defined my life since very little so it’s an interesting posture of the Jews that people are potentially not born in sin, originally. I’d like to cite Jesus when he said, “whoever is free of sin be the first to throw the stone”. As I’m studying more this course and the whole Pathfinder path, the more I’m truthfully curious of present-day Jews story and posture because it feels very far away from me. In the sense that, by hearing a practicing Jewish person speak about sanctification in God’s will by following the commandments, how could I as a gentile be an active participant if I so desired without being Jew? Are there whole non-jewish families that convert into Judaism? Is that even possible?
