Reply To: In the first lecture, Dr. McDermott teaches that the Bible is one story, and that God upholds his covenant with the Jewish people to this very day. Was this what you were taught growing up? If not, how will this insight change the way you read the bible going forward?

Hey Alie,

As the distance in time between the Bible story and our present day widens, our churches have lost touch in that Jewishness that encapsulates and is webbed in scripture. In the same way, like you have shared, losing touch in that one story has led to centuries of anti-semitism. In the present day, the miracle that is modern Israel is bringing new life in the Bible’s one story narrative and is challenging many to be considerate of the miracle prophecy fulfillment in modern Israel
