Rebekah, your words on dealing with Scripture are insightful, and I hope to see more Christians dealing with those passages critically! Especially in more progressive churches, those uncomfortable verses are increasingly simply cut out of the liturgy, which seems more like passing the buck than actually working to repair Christians’ relationship with our Jewish neighbors. Understanding Jesus as invariably connected to a first century Jewish context is an excellent way to facilitate that difficult exegetical work in our communities!
