Kendal, in my original entry on this thread, I mention the group activity. I was raised Catholic and confess that I have not been in a collective setting discussing Scripture since high school, and that was going on fifty years ago soon. My career was teaching college humanities, and my training was in textual study on my own, so this tendency has always been as if natural. So, in my greying maturity, hearing from those in the ecumenical Franciscan community I am among opens up perspectives I never heard from my own “amplification’ of my individual voice in my head as I have pondered a text. This also helps me as I hear from Protestants of varying approaches, whereas (ironically if fittingly for Pathfinder), I have always sought out Jewish sources instead, as wanting to get closer to the Hebraic thinking that has now found its presence dawning on me, and one that I will share with my Franciscan brothers and sisters when I have a communal opportunity coming soon.
