As Christians, one opportunity that we have that others don’t is direct and indirect communication with our fellow brothers and sisters. When we read the Word and we approach specific texts in the Bible that some may take out of context, we can use that as a method to open conversation surrounding the ‘deicide’ theory. That the Jews were the ones who killed Jesus. It says in the book of Gospels, “No one can kill me without my consent—I lay down my life voluntarily. For I have the right and power to lay it down when I want to and also the right and power to take it again. For the Father has given me this right.” (John 10:18-20) We should mention these misconceptions to other believers because it not only helps prevent anti-Semitism within our community, but it also helps us better understand Scripture and the teachings of our Messiah. After all, Jesus was Jewish, and so were the first disciples and apostles.
