Reply To: Why is it important for Christians to keep the sad history of Christian antisemitism in mind when responding to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the present?

Now that I’ve taken this course I understand how important it is for Christians to keep in mind the sad history of christian antisemitism because the israeli-palestinian conflict wouldn’t exist if christians in Europe would’ve welcomed the exiled Jews. How different would history be, nevertheless this history is God’s history and instead of wanting to change the past the only position available is to understand this conflict truthfully. The stance I have as a Christian is of recognition and repentance for my brothers and sisters rejection of Jews, specially now as with Christ our biggest commandment is to love God with all our heart and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. On the other hand, to be Christian is to want to be led by truth, and truth is receiving reality wholeheartedly with utmost sincerity. It’s hard to make peace with such a confronting history, and I believe this is where our job is to now look at how as Christians we may bring forward the fruits of the spirit in our present, specially knowing our past, and remembering our mission to make disciples of all nations and baptizing in the name of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
