Hebraic leadership is about cultivating the temperament to navigate our life here on earth in exile. The most important skills of a Hebraic leader are wisdom and clarity in order to make decisions “for the welfare of the city” as the Prophet Jeremiah says. We can only cultivate wisdom if we are immersed in God’s truth, in his Scriptures, and set apart from the world. In today’s world, where we are constantly bombarded with digital noise, where modern marketing is designed to shape our desires and what we perceive as true about the human condition, it is very challenging to be set apart from the world. This course was a powerful reminder of the sacrifice and spiritual discipline that is incumbent on us as Christians in order to cultivate a temperament of wisdom. Practicing prayer and fasting gives us the spiritual tools to be prepared for hardship and to resist temptations that we will encounter along the journey to diverge from the path God has called us to.
