Reply To: Have you ever been told that supporting Israel prevents you from supporting Palestinians? After taking this course, how would you go about responding to false accusations like this?

In short, yes. I have heard this statement said before. Supporting Israel simply means to allowing for the country and the people (Arabs, Jews, Christians, and more) living in it to live freely. They are not mutually exclusive and a two-state solution is a possibility with the help of international aid (in the example of Accords) can be made concrete. Israel can be and is a safe place for many Palestinians to come and live in. However, in response to this accusation, I would approach it in a logical but still empathetic way. No one wants death, no one wants to die. There are people killing each other because there is a war, it’s a simple statement. Until two religions can respect each other’s ways of living and culture then only is peace possible. However, until this recognition is in place, the need for international aide (a third party to reach an agreement) is the best route to go.
