Reply To: Are there elements of ancient and/or modern Near Eastern Christianity that are present in your own church/faith life? If so, what are they? If not, would you be open to implementing any?

Thanks Michelle. This topic and even in the intro as Dr. Cochrane mentioned how it would be off-putting if he as an ordained pastor in his tradition swung incense, it shows how different people can worship differently but it be legitimate in the sight of God. Also, as Cochrane mentions that he personally has some icons, again, it’s something that many in the west are not familiar with. Also, I’ve grown up in a church with stained glass windows but then have been in churches that see these things as ‘extra’ and want to strip them down to be more authentic. I think this class gives me a greater appreciation for those practices. I can also see the place for the use of images and sensory experiences in worship where I’m often used to services leading up to the sermon as the main feature.
