I can’t help recalling my own journey into Christian faith, when answering this question. I can empathize with those with different beliefs, because I’ve been there too! Intimidation, oppression and aggression may change a people’s behavior but not their hearts; not their belief. In fact, it only serves to traumatize, push people away and program an automatic reaction of disgust toward those who use those tactics. One of the most relationship-damaging things we can do is dishonor our neighbor by expressing the idea that they don’t have the choice to make for themselves in the name of our religion. Who are we to attempt to take that freedom from someone else, when God gave us free will, freedom to believe and worship as we see fit. He also gives us guidance and seeks us out, but he does not force us. Neither should we.
