One cannot learn unless one is exposed. Exposure requires an open-mindedness and willingness to learn. One tangible way of improving relationships with Christians from other traditions is to attend services. When I was in high school, I used to attend Catholic Mass, which was outside of my own practice. When I was younger, I was appalled that I was being forced to sit through a service that was not my own. As an adult, I find it refreshing to watch other worship the Lord in a way that I am not used to. The second tangible way is to ask questions. Be curious. I am sure that I will discover something new not just about myself, but about God, about theology and different ways of worship. The third tangible way, which is a big one for me, is to not hold judgement. I am quick sometimes to think that a way of worship is “weird” simply because it is now how I usually worship. God is not limited, so our worship and reverence should not be either.
