Hi Matheus! Thank you so much for sharing your insight! I was initially skeptical when I saw the title of Matti Friedman’s piece, but it makes so much sense by the end. It opened my eyes to just how haughty and disconnected we are as Americans from this conflict—we live in such a peaceful, prosperous nation that we can’t imagine a world where the solution to a war isn’t simple, so we pretend it’s simpler than it is to help ourselves feel better.
