Hello Jonathan,
Thank you for your answer. Your comment on the Hebraic perspective being an “avenue for interpretation” sheds light on this discussion. In my understanding of the Bible, I see a great importance to understanding meta narrative of Scripture. In that the Bible is one coherent story of God reconciling us back into communion with Himself through Jesus Christ. That being said, I find it hard for me to separate the Person of Christ from my lens of interpretation.
I also see great value to understanding the cultural, ethical, moral and linguistic context of Scripture. In addition, I agree that the original intention of the author is vital as well.
