Reply To: How did this course shape or change your perceptions of the modern Near East as a whole?

It’s indeed very important to have a zoomed out view of the disputes that helped to shape this region in the past hundred years. With a broader view of the conflicts that shaped the modern Near East, we can identified the why of the present conflicts and even where they are going and what could be the alternative path for peace for the peoples of different ethnic groups, religions and nationalities. The war dynamics and struggle for power among the most influential players Iran (Shia theocracy and it’s proxies), the Saudi (sunni block) and Turkish (islamic nationalist block) are at least for now deterring them for destroying their common enemy Israel, and even further making possible a new path forward for peace with the possibility of a more ample alliance between Israel and the Saudi led sunni block with the expansion of the Abraham accords.
