Thank you, Meredith. Yes, it does seem easy to over simplify the narrative with a clear villain and hero. As someone who also has a bias toward Israel, the challenge for me is not only to better understand the reasoning for that support, but to continue to ask how I can better understand the perspective of the “other side” without resorting to simplistic conclusions like, they are just dumb and evil. While those elements certainly exist, appreciating the deeper complexity of these issues sets us up better as peacemakers.
