Reply To: In the first lecture, Dr. McDermott teaches that the Bible is one story, and that God upholds his covenant with the Jewish people to this very day. Was this what you were taught growing up? If not, how will this insight change the way you read the bible going forward?

What I find interesting that I think many Christian communities fail to realize is that the old testament is fully focused on God reaching the nation’s through His chosen people the Israelites. In isaiah, Ezekiel and more there are prophecies specifically talking about this. So there was no shift from Israel to the nation’s it was always through Israel to the nations.

The other interesting thing thay many Christian communities seem to forget it that there are multiple prophecies new and old testament about the Jewish people and God turning their hearts back to Him. About them becoming jealous of non-jews relationship with God and turning back to Him and of course in revelation about God saving the full number of jews before His wrath is loosed. It is amazing to me that so many Christian communities seem to miss all of this
