Reply To: What were some of your primary takeaways after reading Matti Friedman’s “There Is No ‘Israeli-Palestinian Conflict’”?

#4389

Friedman’s call to “zoom out”. He explains that this conflict is about the whole Near East, and all the nations that have each a cultural and religious worldview that impacts in their response to Israel. Each nation and its response needs to be taken in account so the multi-national conflict (not only Israeli and Palestinian, as stated by Friedman) can be resolved. As he says, I agree that there is no magical solution, we need small steps towards peace, one place at a time. Unfortunately, the hateful views that are continually cultivated by the surrounding nations of Israel make it harder and harder to resolve this conflict, that is viewed more and more in a “Zoomed In” perspective. I pray for clarity and that we, as the church, can have a positive impact for more small steps towards peace, as we are called to be peacemakers.
