Reply To: In the first lecture, Dr. McDermott teaches that the Bible is one story, and that God upholds his covenant with the Jewish people to this very day. Was this what you were taught growing up? If not, how will this insight change the way you read the bible going forward?

James Dean

The Church is witness to this reality of Christ gathering the nations unto Himself.

Catholicism was in the belief that the Church superseded Israel (replacement theology) and became New Israel. This misinterpretation led the church into schism with the Jews. This led to further divisions as is today. The original Hebraic map can guide us back on course to true catholicity (unity according to the whole). Re orienting the two, Jew and Gentile, towards the maranatha vision. Jews do not Judaize the gentiles and the gentiles do not Christianize the Jews, but we become one new man in Christ (messiah) whom we both seek His return.
