My perspective is that the United States should engage in mediating negotiations to address the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but only if both Israel and Palestine mutually consent to U.S. involvement as an impartial third-party mediator. I concur with Ms. Adair’s viewpoint that the U.S. has a significant stake in the conflict due to its close alliance with Israel, making unilateral enforcement of a peace agreement unwise. Involving the U.S. without the invitation of both parties could potentially heighten anti-American and anti-Israeli sentiments among Palestinians and, potentially, other states in the Near East, potentially leading to a prolonged conflict. With everything that’s going on between both groups, it is necessary that negotiation happens quickly.
