There’s an incredible app called Sefaria that has a TON of the Jewish commentaries packed together in a very hypertext-y way – you can go to a particular verse, click on it, and it will show you a bunch of commentaries on that verse and mentions of it in the Talmud, Midrash, and more. Really incredible resource and you can see the power of three thousand years of very close examination of the Biblical text. Some of it is in Hebrew but there’s a very good amount in English. The app made me wish that the Christian equivalents of the Jewish hypertexts were available in a similar format. There are things like the Catena Aurea, Cornelius a Lapide, and so forth, but they’re in much clunkier apps (iPieta being one)…and the big Medieval one which covers the entire Bible, the Glossa Ordinaria, is mostly untranslated from Latin.
