I liked how this course emphasized the importance of beginning Hebraic leadership with the square foot around my own feet. Only from there can I expand further to my home, my town, my county, my state, my country, and the world (including Israel.) For me personally, a unique aspect of my home is that I live on a Christian camp and conference center, where I also work. We serve both Christian and secular groups, but something we offer to all of them is a flagpole ceremony. Before we raise our nation’s flag, one of us shares a story about a fallen soldier. I partake in this because my boss asked me to and I have no problem speaking in front of a crowd, but never considered that it was particularly beneficial to make a difference in God’s Kingdom, even though people have told me how meaningful it was after I gave my speech. Even though it has no direct link to Israel, supporting my nation while serving at home in this way took on new meaning as I thought about it while taking this course.
