Absolutely, it’s of utmost importance to remember the tragic history of Christian antisemitism when engaging with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Our past actions must serve as a stark reminder that prejudice can lead to grave injustices. As history rhymes, not repeats, we should heed this lesson. Our journey from hostility toward Jewish and Muslim communities in Europe during the era of Orientalism scholarship highlights the need to break this cycle of hate. Our faith calls us to love our neighbors, just as Christ taught. We’ve seen roles reverse between Christians, Muslims, and Jews, emphasizing the need for compassion and acceptance. As Christians, embodying this love and understanding can contribute to healing and fostering peaceful coexistence.
