Reply To: Have you ever consciously or subconsciously used your faith to examine foreign policy? Was it harmful or helpful? Please elaborate.

I also used to have a more isolationist view of foreign policy largely due to the governments inability to make good foreign policy decisions. I find it difficult to balance what Christianity would indicate that we should do regarding foreign policy compared to what the constitution and our founders might say. I would say the founders had a view of foreign policy that focused on valuing every nation’s sovereignty and cared less about helping individuals within another nation. While Christianity also focuses on respecting other groups/nations sovereignty, there is a blurry line of when we should confront evil actions of other nations.
