Unfortunately, at the age of 21, I am not as biblically literate as I should be. However, I think this course gave me great insight into how I should read and interpret scripture. One of the most insightful things that Dr. Dru taught was that we need to focus more on the perspectives of the biblical authors instead of focusing on our own voices. This is such a huge pitfall that many churches and preachers have fallen into which has likely led to the decline of biblical literacy. The other big insight that I got from Dr. Dru is the importance of looking for the hyperlinking concepts in scripture and understanding the themes and variations. It is only when we can do this that we can apply scripture to modern day issues. In terms of what I will pass along to my community, I will definitely share the importance of the intellectual tradition of Hebraic thought and how we must use it in order to approach and interpret the Bible.
