Reply To: In Lecture 2, Dr. Dru Johnson mentions that there has been a decline in biblical literacy in the Church. After taking this course, what are some recommendations you would give to church leadership to increase biblical literacy?

If I were in a position to give recommendations on increasing biblical literacy, my first thought would be to increase and encourage participation in small group bible studies. I would also encourage churches to offer classes on topics such as Hebraic thought. My church runs a Sabbath program which is Saturday classes on how to read and interpret the Bible. It’s also really important to involve children, teens, and young adults in the church as volunteers, youth group leaders, and in worship nights to increase biblical literacy while they’re young. I think it’s important that people surround themselves with people that will push them to be better and continue to learn and challenge their beliefs, and I think young adult groups and small groups are really important for this.
