That’s really interesting and definitely reminds me of how little I know about iconography. I’d love to know what denomination you follow. I agree with Mason’s response above that it’s really interesting, and a bit sad, how contentious something like icons has become and not just between east and west, but also within modern western tradition. It makes me wonder what other traditions many modern churches might frown upon, such as incense.
