Reply To: Are there elements of ancient and/or modern Near Eastern Christianity that are present in your own church/faith life? If so, what are they? If not, would you be open to implementing any?

My church is a very modern church that has definitely strayed away from a lot of traditions. People wear jeans, there’s no organ but instead a band. I personally really enjoy it, but was raised in the episcopal church which was always very traditional. However, none of these traditions were similar to the near east church or orthodox traditions. The first time I visited Israel, I went to a Syriac liturgy at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and it was really really interesting. I’d never attended anything like it, just because I don’t know if there’s any denominations like that near me, and attending it at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre was especially interesting. I’d love to go to more services and learn more about the different aspects and traditions of various denominations. One that is particularly interesting to me, which I know absolutely nothing about, is the Egyptian Coptic Church.
